Omani Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Discusses Cooperation with Gulf Water Science and Technology Association and Proposes Hosting 16th Gulf Water Conference in Muscat

His Excellency the Omani Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, received in his office the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Water Science and Technology Association, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al Mahmoud, in the presence of Eng. Salem bin Saud Al Kindi, Director General of the Water Department, Ms. Rahma Al Hajri, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry, Eng. Hamad bin Saleh Al Hatmi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Water Science and Technology Association, and Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Hamdi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Water Science and Technology Association and the Omani Water Society. At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Omani Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, welcomed the joint cooperation with the Gulf Water Science and Technology Association, and discussed ways to develop bilateral relations in all fields, especially since the association is a pioneer and active in the field of water science and technology in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and is considered the only Gulf association active in the field of water science, technology and technology, and has joint cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. During the meeting, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al Mahmoud reviewed the objectives and mission of the association in highlighting water issues and challenges to decision-makers and proposing appropriate solutions to develop water resources, and the nature of the role played by the association through a group of activities, most notably the Gulf Conference held in one of the member states, in addition to organizing seminars, training courses, specialized workshops and providing consultations. He also suggested holding the 16th Gulf Water Conference in the Omani capital, Muscat, in 2026.

His Excellency the Omani Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources welcomed the proposal for the Sultanate of Oman to host the 16th Gulf Water Conference in conjunction with the Omani Water Week, which is held annually, especially after the successes achieved by previous versions of the conference, which discusses the most important issues related to preserving water resources in the Gulf Cooperation Council, calling for joint preparation and coordination in the coming period by holding a coordination meeting between the Director of Water Resources at the Ministry and the association to set the necessary steps for implementation and preparation for the conference, so that it appears in the best possible way that serves the goals of concerted efforts to spread water awareness to achieve water sustainability and confront the challenges facing the water sector in the Gulf.
